“TIKKI”

“What A Woman”….are the words spoken by a loving husband and father, Herb Johnson President/CEO of the Tikkitress Latrell Deary Johnson Foundation. “God could have not made Earthly Ties so strong to break them in eternity”

Tikkitress Latrell Deary Johnson was born on February 15, 1970 in Fort Lauderdale Fl, native of Broward County her parents are Carol Deary Primous and Elwood Butch Deary.  During the summer of 1985 I had the opportunity to meet Tikkitress, and at that moment the tender age of fourteen (14), I knew then I was going to marry her. We dated through the course of our high school years and eventually decided to get married on July 24, 1989. Tikkitress was a loving and caring person with a heart that was as big as this world and had a smile that was infectious. Her presence would light up any room she entered. Throughout her life Tikki touched and helped the lives of so many people in which she was even helpful and kind to the culprits who committed this malicious, cruel, and heinous crime against her. Tikki’s loving spirit, and her overwhelming generosity was always willing to help anyone in need. Whether it was a co worker that needed a ride home, or assistance with personal matters, or just giving general advice to those in despair, or feeding the homeless people that she came in contact with. As a mother, she exemplified the true meaning of unconditional love.  She dedicated her life to raising our children and taught them to take pride in everything they do; to exercise morals, values, respect, integrity, and responsibility that every person should admire in a young women within today’s society. Mentoring the youth throughout the community, installing pride and commitment in young girls, and leading by example of what a strong and respectable woman should be like. Tikki was a woman of courage and showed strength during trying times in her life. Having a strong faith in God she knew that challenges didn’t last forever.

Tikki worked for Taco Bell for over 20 years and started at the tender age of 16 years old (Dedication). During this time she was able to assist her husband Herb Johnson with taking care of a family while maintaining a full time job. Though this may have been tough for some, Tikki, was dedicated and self driven to be successful and made a career working for Taco Bell. During this time at Taco Bell she considered them as her second family. She had a great relationship with all of her employees.

Unfortunately, all the acts of kindness, generosity, and teaching would come to an end. On August 10, 2009, a robbery occurred at Taco Bell located at 593 east Oakland Park Blvd. During the course of this robbery Tikkitress would succumb to her injuries after violently being slashed and stabbed more than eighty six (86) times as she fought to live at the very place where she had dedicated more than twenty years of her life!

Through the Tikkitress Latrell Deary Johnson Foundation we will continue to put our faith in God as he guide us through this path. Tikkitress’s legacy continues through her husband, children, Mother, Father, and a host of Family members who are committed to God, by ensuring us that her transition was not made in vain.
